Hey all, I have a 2007 hhr, and the check engine light is on for the gas cap, I’ve replaced the cap, gaskets, cleaned everything that could be the problem several times and cleared the code but the check engine light comes back on within 2 days of doing these things which if the check engine light is on the remote start won’t work which would be nice to have on these cold mornings. So with that being said any help/pointers to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

 

No haha Florida is my home state, but currently stationed in the northern states for work, it is both the message and the check engine light are on.
I will get you the code number in just a minute I have to fire up my code reader.

 

What gas cap did you get? Some don’t work well.


I ended up getting an original for my 2007

 

Scan for codes. Most chain parts store will do it for free. Write them down. Just the code(s.) Ignore the descriptions. Post here.

 

Is there a message on the instrument panel; "check gas cap"? Codes have numbers not names.
If it is P0455 the EVAP vent valve is probably stuck open.

 

Post #3 he states that both the message and the check engine light are on. Also said he was going to pull the codes.
I’m just waiting for his return.
