Grinding noise AC related
Hi everyone
haven't been on the site lately, only because my 06 has not given me any real grief. But there is something it has been doing since I got it a year and a half ago that has me concerned.
There is a grinding noise, or bearing growl, coming from the engine compartment. It only seems to do it when I turn on the blower motor to any speed, and the growl is intermittent, not constant. Would it be the AC cycling and turning the clutch on and off? If so, what if I unplugged the pigtail from the clutch so it doesn't cycle? I live in the Great White North so I can't see me using my AC for another two months or so. And then I would only open the windows to get a little cooling going on in the interior.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Going on a short trip with the HHR this weekend so I need to make sure everything is gonna be fine.
Thanks.

This might be a "growl" that originates from the a/c hose. I'm surprised the noise has appeared now......after 5 years. Wonder why the original owner did not have it taken care of.
Anyway, if this is the problem, there is a TSB to describe the repair of the problem. However, because of the age of the vehicle, I think you'll need to pay for the repair.
Oh, I don't believe this problem causes any harm....other than the nuisance noise.
