Is your temp display going to dashes? Is there a clicking sound coming from the shifter area?

no clicking noises, I do not understand the question of temp display going to dashes. everything is normal on my dash and display, just the issues with the shifting

I just wondered if you had the same problem I have had in the past (loose wire) causing loss of communication to a module. It does not sound like the same issue.

The problem with my car is similar to what I have read...Check Engine light on...When I start the car, it takes a while to start...turn the key...let go and it cranks for a few seconds then slowly sucks up gas......rough Idle in park.....neutral....jerky motion while in drive....Once i start driving...runs great....GM dealer diagnosed a P0011...told me the Camshaft actuators need to be replaced.....Would this description fall under the same category as hard shifting?..Not sure what is meant by hard shifting....It does Idle rough....Thanks

Here we go again - this is the second posting on a different thread for what sorta sounds like the same problem ( https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...ighlight=P2176).

However you now mention the code being thrown is P0011, whereas the other posting describing the same symptoms, refers to P0017?????????? You are not making this easy man.

Snoopy has already given you some links to follow in the other posting - and if your code is actually P0011, I'll give a...........

Quick recap:

..... addresses the occurrances of hard shifting/Traction Control light lit/CEL codes p0010/11/13 and/or p0014 in 2.4 L as well as in the later 2.2 L with VVT in the 2009s onward.

P0010/11 refers to the INTAKE solenoid
P0013/14 refers to the EXHAUST solenoid

The GM part numbers are as follows for the camshaft position actuator solenoids:

-------- Original-----Updated a month or two ago
Exhaust 12628348 = 12646784
Intake 12628347 = 12646783

Prices are ~$50 ea. or less it seems (down in USA - ~double that in Canada!!)

P0011 Camshaft Actuator

I received P0017 at first from one mechanic....GM dealer provided me with P0011....just relaying the information that I was given.....gathering all necessary information to be sure to be on the right road.......Thanks for being patient....

@RicT, this should be something that is covered under warranty since your HHR is a 2010. If you are not comfortable with the information you have been provided by one dealership, you can get a second opinion from another Chevrolet dealer.

I'll write back tomorrow.
Meanwhile has anyone else changed out the acuator solenoids for the intake or exhaust and cured the problem.

Nope - they are not sprockets - they are solenoids. Not sure what else to say, as you don't give much info on where you got that info from, or how you got it.

And if you do a bit more reading, you will see that the part numbers you quoted from R CA HHR are obsolete. Look 3 posts above yours here for the right part numbers.
