Did the dealership get it taken care of for you?

HOPE THAT IT'S COVERED! This happened to my car a few months back, had to take it to the dealership and leave it running out in the parking lot since I couldn't get the key to turn. Cost me over $200! Out of warranty and insurance didn't cover labor.

Your 2008 is covered under a (new) Special Coverage for 10 years or 120K miles for the ignition.

Hope you kept your reciept, cause you can get your money back..

I apologize for the delay in getting with you about this. I was off the last two days since I am in the office today and tomorrow.

Please, send me a private message with the VIN of your HHR. I would like to research the Special Coverage. After investigating this, you might be able to get reimbursed for what you have spent to get this resolved.
