HHR clunking and bumping

Hello everybody I'm new to this club. I joined because I have a question about my HHR. I bought it new in 2007. I just now changed out my rotors and struts and now I have a horrible clunking feel a bumping sound under the front end when it is cold. after driving for several miles this stops until the car is cold again and it will do the same thing.

Does anyone know what causes this. I'm really frustrated will this thing and I am ready to junk it if I can't find a solution.

The dealer says he can't find anything wrong.

help!

HHR's are known for their ability to drive people bonkers tracking down odd noises in the front end. There can be a few well known and predictable culprits like, sway bar end links, sway bar bushings, lower control arm bushings, upper strut mounts, hubs, etc.

Give this excellent thread by our Moderator whopper a read, he put a lot of time into this, and many questions are answered in one spot.

Some patience and diagnostic work can be required to nail down the offending part, if your dealer isn't up to the task, take it somewhere else.

Based on my personal experiences, temperature related clunks have been bad sway bar bushings on mine.

Did you install "complete" struts, or just the shock absorber part and re-use the mounts & springs?
