How to keep rearview mirror lights from turning on?
Hello and thanks for keeping this forum going!
Due to a series of crappy circumstances, my partner and I have found ourselves living in my 2007 HHR LT for the time being. It's really not big enough, but that isn't what my question is about.
Every time we open a door, the lights attached to the rearview mirror turn on and stay on for several minutes. I don't find these lights helpful at all. They are too dim to be of any use and they just annoy me. The light coming on isn't a problem during the day but at night it bothers us. We also can't sit with the door open to try to alleviate some of the heat, because of the insistence of these lights to turn on when the door is open. I've got the dome light in the back set to not turn on when the doors are opened, but that doesn't affect these two crappy lights on the mirror.
Can I just pull a fuse to keep these lights from turning on, or are they on the same fuse as something else? I don't know anything about car electronics, so if I can pull a fuse, a bit of a tutorial would help.
Thank you in advance for any advice you may have.
