Cool Junk

I posted when I first got wifeys HHR.

I am sure some will remember the POS post that pissed some off?

Well this is how it's gone down. Maybe bad carma?

When we first got the HHR it had rust on the inside of the bottom of the door.
So the previous owner had it fixed.

We got the vehicle and it had to sit for about 3 weeks before we could reg. it.

When I drove it out of the carport the R.R. brake had hungup and it skided the tire for about 150 feet before it broke loose. It must have been rusted.

At that time I noticed the rust had came back on the door.
This is a picture of the repaired area 3 weeks after repair.

The next issue was a few days ago. It went into "limp mode" and the dealer fixed it saying it was a loose throttle body. All was good until today and we have a check air bag warning on the dash. It will go to the dealer today.

The bumper to bumper runs out in about 600 miles and I am screwed.

What do you guys think?

thanks KK4

it sounds like maybe you need to take it to a better dealership. I've gone thru 5 limp mode lights on mine, aand its finally been trouble free now for more than a cpl weeks.. be very candid and firm and tell them to do it right.

A couple of questions first....

1. Have you ever fun a CarFax on this unit?

2. If you have, was it previously registered out of state?

On the door issue, I'd take it right back and tell them to do it over, and this time to do it right. There is a way to unfold the door skin to clean out the rust, then prime/paint, and then refold the door skin before doing the final prime/paint/seal. If done properly it should be a permanent repair.

My big concern is that you may have a vehicle that was in a flood at some point, hence the questions about prior out of state registration. Its possible to "clean" a vehicle's title by transferring the vehicle to another state, what once was a salvage titled flood car in PA for example, becomes a clean titled "one owner cream puff" in NY...its done all the time sadly.

No It's just dirt.

Wifey just got back from GM / scan for code 80081 - rezero pps check. mode ok. No correction made / all ok.

The light was off by the time she went to GM. a 30 mile trip one way.

Oh well she had go go to the city anyhow. But she did have to waite a hour to get in. Lucky that was all.

I will say after driving the HHR they are a nice , fun lil vehicle if nothing goes wrong. I would rate the vehicle a 8 or 9 for what we want if it wern't for the issues. TOO BAD. for that.

take care KK4

The reason I asked was that wouldn't be a "normal" place that some guys are getting the rust. If it had been rust it would almost guarantee that is had been "sitting in water"......

I think there is a way to do a title search in the state it came from to check for "salvage title" or other odd status situations.

Glad the code was a non issue and I hope the gremlins stay away from your car.

Definitely rust. Your corrosion warranty should go to 150,000 miles... pretty sure.Name: IMAG0869.jpg

Get it looked at by various dealerships.
