Hey (again), hope everything's good
I just put back my interior lights fuse last night (I had taken them off like a year ago because i didn't have a spare 10A for something else, and i forgot to put one back in when i bought a new one).
I remember that my previous owner had told me that the buttons under the dash mirror for the lights don't work as they didn't turn the lights off. I eventually figured out that he was wrong and that the dome light switch had to be positioned in a certain way and the switches in the dash mirror would start working again (on/off). I had it working but after I took out the fuse and pulled the connections behind the rear view mirror, it seems to have changed now. The wiring diagrams show a 3 way path for electricity (On, Door, Off), and there is no way the lights can get the current if the switch is off, right?
and since the button is on/off (that's 2 states), how come there's three pathways (On, Off, DOOR)? Is the "door" selection independent of the switch?
On both of mine a 2008 and a 2011 they came on when I opened the door and the dimmed out after a minute or so with the dome light. The map light switches were only on/off (one button for each).
I don't have a dome light in 2008 Chevy Cobalt, only map lights on my mirror. They are the only lights that come on when the door is open. How do I make it so they don't come on when the door is open? I only see the 2 push buttons. I will send I picture of I can to show you. I don't see no off switch just the two buttons that turns them on/off.
