Multiple issues - 2011 HHR LT2 - 101k
Hello! I'm a newbie to this forum, although not new to vehicle repair.
I have a 2011 HHR LT2, otherwise known as the money pit.
Here are the issues I'm currently having:
1) Tire Low Add Air light continously illuminated on DIC and instrument panel, even though actual pressure levels are on target. New pressure sensors were installed/calibrated less than 6,000 miles ago when brand new tires of the correct size were installed.
2) Service ESC message on DIC continuously
3) Brake Fluid message on DIC as well as red BRAKE warning light illuminated on instrumENT panel.
4) Traction control light illuminated on instrument panel
5) Two headlights while on Brights, but only one headlight on dim. Have replaced bulbs with no change.
6) Squealing/screetching noise when driver's window is rolled up or down. Dealership replace entire molding kit on drivers's door along with window channel kit. Noise stopped for a while and then came back as bad as ever.
7) Occasional dry start - like oil is not reaching the top of the motor in time when first started. Dealership has "looked" at the car for this but said they couldn't find anything and couldn't justify tearing into the engine for an intermittent issue.
8) Driver's side interior door handle fell off in my hand
9) When car is on accessory mode with radio on, battery will deplete within 15 minutes. 2 new batteries installed, alternator and charging system test perfectly.
10. Emblem on rear of tailgate - plastic "cover" fell off and now decal is flaking off. This began at 55,000 miles
11. First wheel bearing fail at 50,000 miles. PS
12. Same wheel bearing failed again at 70,000 miles.
13. DS wheel bearing failed at 55,000 miles
14. Same wheel bearing failed again at 70,000 miles
15. Replaced sway bar links, tie rods, wheel bearings, brake pads, rotors, A-Arm/ball joints (PS) at 92,000 miles
16. A-Arm and ball joints need replaced on driver's side now
17. Steering pulls to the left even after having an alignment done professionally.
Anyone else have these issues and or suggestions of how to fix them? I will never ever buy another HHR again.

Anybody thought to scan for Cxxxx codes? Takes a ABS capable scantool.
1 Before and after?
1,2,3,4 are related. Electrical problem, or the wheel bearings weren't installed correctly.
5 fuses; I bet the Right one works on low beam, but only the Left one works as DRL; That would mean the Left Low Beam fuse is blown.
6 nobody ever heard of lube?
7. what? How do you know?
8. that's why there is a cheap repair kit.
9. sorry, that's life.
10. whoever fixed it the first time blew it.
11-14 bearings fail, especially the really cheap ones,
15. typical
16 typical
17. related to 16

I would add #9, don't leave the key in accessory. The radio will play for 10 mins or until driver door is opened, with the key off. Maybe fewer systems drawing power with key off.
Some things are cheap on these cars. They were not high end cars. On top of that, they were produced when the General was having severe financial problems. Even high end cars have cheap plastic parts on them.

Bad TPMS sensor, buy an AC delco next time. sometimes the tire guy whacks it installing the tire, watch them.
2) Service ESC message on DIC continuously
Electronic Stability Control , pull engine codes
3) Brake Fluid message on DIC as well as red BRAKE warning light illuminated on instrumENT panel.
4) Traction control light illuminated on instrument panel
5) Two headlights while on Brights, but only one headlight on dim. Have replaced bulbs with no change.
Inspect pigtail at bulb

8) Driver's side interior door handle fell off in my hand
All of our door handles have broken off, someone makes them out of metal now.
9) When car is on accessory mode with radio on, battery will deplete within 15 minutes. 2 new batteries installed, alternator and charging system test perfectly.
