So, I guess we will never know where it gets power from. Must be magic!

Does the mystery harness have a black box in it? Does it have an identifying number , like GMLAN? Is it specifically for CAN BUS vehicles?

You do know that the harness in the car is connected to the BCM (computer)? If you connected to the wrong wires it could have catastrophic consequences.

I suggest you pull the mystery harness out of the car, If you really want to have the radio work get the correct harness adapter.

No box in the harness, basic adapter, I dont have steering wheel controls so all it stopped was playing after key was off. BCM came with new fuses and all others checked for continuity 3 times but I will change them. At this point I'm open to anything helpful

You hooked the harness up shorting the LAN somehow. Here is the pin out on the back of the radio. The hi lighted wire, DKGRN/WHT is the computer line that goes to the LAN.

Does removing the harness fix the problems? I don't know.

I'm wondering if the wire you thought was the remote on wire was actually the LAN wire. The diagram has the color codes. Note that the serial data wire is the same code as the R audio +.
If you were bypassing all of the functions I don't know what purpose buying a harness serves; just splicing would do the job; just speakers and power.

I still don't know where you are picking 12V from.

Have you matched up the wires in the adapter to the correct terminals. Generic wiring is not the same as GM.

I used the adapter to keep the harness intact and prevent problems, that worked out great LOL! I haven't had a chance to pull it and look into it further yet, life has been in the way. Definitely will get to it over the holidays if not before. Where does the wire go to the LAN or what is the LAN? Can I run a wire externally to something to test/fix it?

The adapter is supposed to plug into the factory plugs and are color coded for aftermarket stereos to wire in without destroying the harness allowing you to put the factory radio back in without any issues. Stereo shops everywhere use them, I used Metra brand, well known for a quality product. You do have to pick up the switched 12v source from the fuse panel but that is common with a lot of these kits because that is supplied from the factory amp to the factory radio I am told by Metra technical support.

Do you have a Metra AX-ADXSVI-GM2?
If so did you notice the hi lited bit?

The correct adapter is Metra LC-GMRC-LAN-03 starting at around $25 on ebay $44 on Crutchfield. This retains the chimes, loses everything else.
here is the Owner/installation book https://pdf.crutchfieldonline.com/Im...120LCLAN03.PDF

Not sure on the part number but mine does away with the chimes as well and doesn't require another part to be used. I've used this style harness before without any problems but that doesn't mean this one is not faulty. I have another with short wires that I replaced when I installed the amp that I know is good that I can swap it out with just to see if it is the problem
