I just had brake shoes and drums replaced.
AFTER: I had clicking/knocking noise when medium pressure applied to brake
only left rear wheel.

The shop replaced the new drums

still clicking/knocking.

It is with the rotation of the wheel-as you slow, it slows too

Any ideas?

 

Chances are the new drum on that side is slightly out of round, so it's catching on the brakes shoes then releasing them, hence the clicking/knocking sound.

It'll happen sometimes, take it back after Christmas, and most likely they'll either use a brake lathe to "true up" the drum, or they'll just swap it out for another one.

Annoying yes, dangerous not so much, will it drive you crazy for a couple of days..yup.

 

That is what they said, so they replaced both NEW drums. Do you think the replacements (2nd set) are out of round too? Do you think the who(le) batch is bad?

also they said they torque the lug nuts. And they did the 1st time, but today that air gun when went full blast right to it's stop. are those air guns set for low torque?
I didnt SEE him torque today, but may have missed it.

 

Back in my "turning wrenches for a living" days, I would always check new drums and rotors before installing them.
I would put the new ones on the brake lathe to check them. Many, many times I would have to run a thin cut on them to true them up.
If they were obviously way out, I would just get another and return the defective one.

 

Anybody suggest a bad rear hub/bearing?

Yes, I thought of a bearing, but they are usually all the time, and i had no noise until the brake job.
