non-limp mode check engine light
Yes it is the thermostat as noted on the first page of your thread. That is why I was asking "Are you saying you just reset the code, and that was all?" a few days back.
Details on how it is changed is at https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...mostat+replace
Really man, I would suggest you have someone else do it. It's not that difficult, but you don't have a place to do it, and it involves draining some of the coolant, so can get a bit messy if one gets sloppy.

ps: other than your engine being slow to warm up, it won't cause a major problem (in my opinion) if you left the thermostat replacement for a week or so. I drove mine for about a month before I finally got it replaced. However I have a code reader I could use to quickly reset the CEL and to get the A/C operating again.
guy it may be impossible. My belly is modestly large (only about 30 lb overweight), and the lean over time and angles did a number on my back. It seems that GM wants you to disassemble everything in order to get to those 3 bolts, getting them out is only irritating getting them back in is a RoyalPITA. Be sure to get the old gasket out and the new one in right, if you flush the system you have to install the gasket without the t-stat. "It's ONLY 3 bolts" .... that take 3 hours to R&R. And the radiator drain, on the pass. side bottom. Looks like a casting blank, but is indeed a plastic threaded drain, just open it enuff to get a good drain going with the "pressure cap" removed; no need to unscrew it all the way out. Plastic screw threads into plastic radiator = a B*tch to unscrew. Good Luck!
