Odd noise

I have a 2008 2.2L and for the past couple days I have been hearing an odd noise..now its kind of hard to describe, it sounds like a motorcycle, or as a kid if you used to put playing cards in your bicycle spokes... it gets louder when you go faster. So i thought it was a tire that was low so i filled it up and checked the other 3 and all seems to be ok. It only seems to be doing this noise when the car is in Drive. If i put it in neutral or park and rev i dont hear it. It is really noticeable on decelerating.
any ideas?
thanks

So it's something when the wheels are turning. Make sure you don't have any foreign objects hung up around one of the wheels and rubbing.
On the mechanical side, may be a bad CV joint.

You can try jacking each corner up and spinning the tire by hand. With the front tires, also test with the wheel turned in and out as well as straight ahead.

Would a cracked flex pipe sound like that? I have not experienced it myself but from the conversations I have read on here that was the first thing I thought of. Seems if the flex pipe was cracked it would only sound like that under load.

I dont hear it so much in the HHR. Now when I get the Vette out there are a few more high pitched noises.
