Thanks for the clarification on the P0422 and P0455 tests, that helps a lot.
I wish someone was messing with me instead of having to deal with this, but no one has touched the car.
I guess I'll remove the water pump if it still doesn't clean out the next flush. I might be able to see if one of the gaskets inside it is damaged? Are the water pumps from ZZP good to use as a replacement?
Right, I did mean P0442 not P0422.
As I have said a few times, P0455 has to do with the tank pressure sensor zeroing upon request. Either wires, fuses. the reference port obstructed vent tor the sensor. Could be the vent valve is clogged, the vent pipe clogged or bent, the reference port obstructed, the connectors loose.
Have you replaced the EVAP vent valve/solenoid? They are usually full of dust.
It looks like the EVAP code isn't coming up anymore after I put some dielectric grease in the connector for the purge valve that got oil on it. The vent valve has never been replaced, still the same one from the factory.
I haven't noticed anyone mention this, but do you think a combustion leak test would help diagnose the issue? Looks like a relatively inexpensive test to see if it's actually a head gasket or a crack in the block.
Okay, I did the combustion leak test and it came up negative. I tried the radiator cap and the reservoir, which neither turned the fluid yellow. No gases from combustion are getting into the cooling system. I'm leaning more toward it being a leak from the water pump now.
EVAP code popped up again but I noticed I forgot to attach the elbow for the throttle body to the air filter - can this cause the code to be thrown?
Alright, got the water pump off today to find that it looks okay to me. One thing that looked a little weird was the coolant tube that goes into the water pump. It is dark on the bottom part.
The sprocket holder was definitely handy and saved me from dropping a few bolts into the timing chain area.
Is there anything more I can do to determine if it's alright?\
I just noticed looking at these pictures that I broke a part of it... great... missed the bolt that I was staring at the entire time and removed the one below it instead..
Looks like I'm ordering a new water pump anyways then.
Since it's most likely not the water pump, I think the only other thing it could be is a head gasket or crack in the block. I'm completely stumped.
