I think so. Not if it's already leaking, of course. But I didn't reuse mine, on the theory that if it leaked it would be a pita to fix. I also gave the seal surface a lot of attention. The valve cover I reused.

While I'm waiting for a new crankshaft bolt, I might as well buy the ZZP guide. Looks like all I have to do is remove the old guide and install that without touching anything else. I was checking the bolts in the timing chain area and I must've forgotten to torque the lower bolt for that guide too. It was about one turn away from even being hand-tight.
I wouldn't.

Neither would I , I didn’t have any luck reusing the FelPro front cover gasket or valve cover gasket, last fall

Ordered a new timing gasket. Is it worth it to retime the car while I have the cover off?

You will have to to reset the balance shaft chain, and be ready to change the chain if it’s at all streched

If you mean replace then maybe if the chain is stretched or the guides are worn. I would inspect things but as for timing unless it had jumped time it'll be in time still.

I reset the balance shaft chain tensioner but the chain tension feels loose. It doesn't look like it's stretched.
I was just wondering to just set the car to TDC and realign the chains back up to the marks in case it moved off a tooth at some point. When I was loosening the crankshaft bolt with an impact, the harmonic balancer turned counter-clockwise maybe a 1/8 or less of a turn. The timing chain for that still feels fine Just trying to be cautious so I don't end up having to take everything apart again.

If there is ANY slack between the sprockets the chain needs replacing. I doubt 1/8 turn would jump a tooth.
If you have over 100,000 miles on the chain, I would go ahead and replace the chains, tensioners and guides.

I have 7000 miles on the chains and guides. Car is only at 72k miles. I'll try resetting the balance shaft tensioner again just to make sure I didn't screw something up there. For both chains, I shouldn't be able to push in on them at all right?
