A pry bar held between the harmonic balancer and front engine cover
I’m going to suggest just the pry bar to hold the crank from turning, you shouldn’t need the socket and breaker bar , these photos are from removing and replacing the harmonic balancer

Thanks for the help! I've got the engine back in but am running into an issue with possibly a connection at the fuse box. The battery is reading 12.7v, but I am getting 0v at the fuse box. I am getting no power in the car. Where does the power come into the fuse box? Can I check the voltage somewhere between the fuse box and the battery?

I removed the fuse box when removing the engine, but it looks like everything is back right. I checked the connections/grounds at the front of the transmission, fuel line bracket, starter, alternator, and the front of the engine. I don't see anything loose.

The positive cable comes up to the fuse box and connects to the lug under the red plastic cover then another wire goes down to the starter.
That’s the red plastic boot down on the left

Right after I posted this I noticed I was missing a wire to the positive stud, and it was the positive cable from the battery. I missed the most important cable

Yep, it was hiding under the fuse box.
I got the engine running today and have a high-pitched tick that can only be heard at 1000rpm. Any lower or higher, and it can't be heard anymore. I don't think it's a rod or main bearing, but I wouldn't rule it out. I think it's the belt tensioner as it's the loudest by the crank pulley. Is this a common symptom of a bad tensioner?

Remove the belt and start it up, if no more ticking it’s the tensioner pulley.

I removed the belt and it's still ticking, is there anything else that could be causing this other than rod/main bearings? I ran the engine for about 10-15 minutes at 1500-3000 rpm and the oil filter had no metal. The magnetic drain plug had a little bit of metal sludge on it.

Ticking noise is generally valve train related.
Rod or main bearing noise is more of a thump or clunk.

It’s probably just that tick from valve train , your 2.2 from 2008 wouldn’t have VVT system. Possibly the fuel injectors
