The Cooling fan fuse is #40 in the underhood electrical center and the relay is #50, if memory serves me right, double check with your owners manual.

There is no "fan control module", but instead the fan is controlled via the ECM based on signals it receives from the coolant temperature sensor, or when the A/C is engaged. And on automatic equipped HHR's it will engage the fan when the temperature of the transmission exceeds a certain range.

Only suggestion I can think of bud, is when it happens again, take a picture of it and make sure that the picture has a date stamp on it.. Just in case you aren't near the Dealership.

Same exact thing happened to mine around the same time, but it was the lower radiator hose that blew.

Good question Mr Z, the cooing fan is controlled by a switched ground from the ECM, no separate control module just for the fan.

As to the fan module service operation shown in post #15, all I can say is....beats me.

My ten cents, say's it is the fan that has gone bad, it's acting just like mine was, before they replaced the fan.

I'd almost lay odds that its a bad fan too Sam, the thing is he needs to either fire the current dealer(and go somewhere else)or get it to misbehave for them before he cooks the engine.

Might be wrong here, but I thought the module was part of the fan itself. As in, attached to the fan housing.
Maybe my aching back will let me get off the couch and go take a look.

Agreed - it's the fan, as suggested several days back.
