P0011 & p0014

So the wife drives a 2008 HHR SS. She calls me at work telling me that the engine light was on. We have a parts store one block away. So I sent her to get them to pull the engine code. P0011 & P0014. So I already had a couple old used Intake & Exhaust Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoids. I had saved them with the intent of disassembling one to see what makes them tick and just never got around to tearing them apart (Luckily). Normally I am OCD meticulous about labeling everything, but these two solenoids slipped through the cracks, so I have no idea of their history. Pretty certain that one if not both were removed because they were bad. I own 5 HHR's, so I forget which one has gotten what. I have also saved some of these solenoids from junkyard engines. So I am not 100% certain if these used solenoids are the bad ones are some good ones off of one of the junkyard engines. I had already cleaned them with gasoline and now I dropped them in a bottle of fuel injector cleaner and gonna let them soak for a week. Then when I change them out in the HHR I will soak the other two positive bad solenoid and reinstall. I'll keep ya posted with ya results on both sets. I saw this from some "mechanic" on youtube. I have always been interested if it works. I bought the cheap 99c fuel injector cleaner from walmart, so worst case I am out 99c and 30 minutes of my time.

I tried that once to no avail.

I think it might work since you don't have P0010/P0013

Let us know, but for the cost of a pair of the solenoids, I just order a new set.
