The listing on gmpartsdirect is odd, disregard what I said about being the same.
I don't know if the are stamped with markings, they usually come pre assembled on the head.

I listed the gears because that is what I am suspecting. They have a thingy in them that can be done wrong.

Often GMpartsdirect often has poor information. You would be better off contacting local dealership with your VIN to obtain good info

Often the local GM parts dept has bad information too. I point directly at ball joints for the SS. The drawings in gmpartsdirect are the misleading part; they have 2 drawings, one for intake and one for exhaust, but in both drawings both camshafts are identified as #11. The part listing does have different part numbers.

Anyway, here are the specialized bits for installing the cam gears.

Solved

After refusing to give up (and the absolute NEED for the car to pass SMOG), I finally figured out and repaired this code! I read every service bulletin I could find from GM and came across one that was my exact issue. The cam trigger ring (opposite end of cam as timing gear) is pressed on without a key-way. In some situations this ring can move from its intended position and give the sensor bad intel. That is what occurred in this case. I admit I was hasty and threw unnecessary parts at it, but I was desperate and was also positive cam timing was precise. Also there is a video posted on youtube.com where a shop diagnosis the same issue on a 2.2 Cobalt if you want to see the data in real time on a Tech 2.

Thanks for all the PM and posts trying to help me with this.

Me too! I was so frustrated and customer was about ready to crush me like a bug. It was only off enough to set the MIL, but not off enough that the ECU couldn't compensate for the discrepancy. That's why still ran so well I guess.
