And if he did , you’ll need a new ZZP custom intake or I think TTR had one too!
That gasket goop ruined the manifold, honey! I’m gonna just order up a new one!

I’m still on the old school side, if you have it apart, change the chains and tensioners and guides.

Do you have a tracking number, so I can see when it's supposed to get here?
Very generous of you!

I see! The manifold is metal. I don't know why I was thinking they would be the same.

Shellac on a metal gasket is even dumber. I am assuming it is multi-layer?

How could I have overlooked the fact that the camshafts have to be removed in order to change the guide seals?!? Closing back up, try again next weekend!

My hope is to remove the timing tensioner, then remove the TTY bolts and carefully pull the phasers away from the camshafts. Then I can remove the camshafts. Gotta figure a way to hold the phasers safely in place. Looks like the rocker arms just sit in there, not attached to anything. New TTY bolts have been ordered from dealer. I'll want to set it at #1 TDC, of course.

I know best practice would be to replace all the timing components, but... If this doesn't fix the oil consumption problem, and the real culprit turns out to be pistons/rings.... I'm gonna be wanting a new engine.

I don't want to put more time/money into this engine... and replacing the seals AND the timing set would take more time than I have in a weekend.

Memory seems to tell me it is not multi-layer. There are numerous pics in the shell blast tut. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-...lves-ss-56184/ Hard to tell. The exhaust gasket was definitely multi-layer, I don't think intake was.

I reread your shell blasting tut. You said then that #4 was leaking to the crankcase, i.e.: rings.

I'm thinking not rings, because the % of leakage has not changed since then.
