Problems/Service/RepairsIf you have a problem with your HHR, want a tip on repairing or performing a particular service to you HHR here is the place to post!
I talked to the mechanic today, not exactly what I expected. He said it's #4 that is misfiring, not #1 or #2. So he's going to put a new injector in #4.
Over $400 for the part. Way too much, but what can I do? I can get it a lot cheaper online, but the time to ship it here, I just can't wait around San Jose until next week waiting for it to be fixed.
So I'm feeling what a lot of other members feel, not knowing a good mechanic.
u could have called me i,m in merced , and had my shop in gilroy for 26 years , and i have a core ss motor we could have pulled parts from , sorry for your pains lmk if i can help dave
Maybe a good idea to stop by Dave’s and pickup a set of injectors, and any other tidbits you’ve needed or wanted.
Opportunity usually only knocks but once!
Car was ready to pick up on the promised day. Drove it home, been driving it since, no problems. So the diagnosis was good, the repair was good.
The rate was a bit high, $130/hour. The final bill, including 1 hour for diagnosis, 5.25 hours for replacing the fuel injector, and $407 for the new injector, was $1,258. Yeah, ouch!
But I'm glad it's fixed. Now I can move on to replacing the the valve guide seals(chasing the oil consumption). Doesn't look too difficult.
5.25 hours, I don't know how long book says, but I know it's a PITA, have to remove the intake manifold to get to the injectors. Can I post the name of the shop, in case someone is looking for a shop in the San Jose area?
