Oh, actually that was months ago, I took a picture of it! the code was B2aaa. I'm misremembering.

Aha "the B2AAA code will come on when You insert a scanner tool into the OBD II port that is not compatible with the vehicle"

WELL that is interesting, that code did not come up yesterday. I wil doublecheck the one I bought is compatable with the HHR.

I'm always leery of Amazon ads with simple words misspelled

It's just a typo from the worker translating a chinese product, like so many of our products... it does have a lot of positive reviews but really this is intended as an entry level one, will see if i want to spend a hundred plus later.

I tried it out, it works, no 'incompatability' error code. And it was neat seeing an RPM graph, and lots of other data, pulled up my VIN, lots of functions.
No codes, for now.

Donbrew, you said "You can test the AC clutch by supplying 12V to the green re on the compressor (pin 87 on the relay) while the engine is running."
was 're' a typo for 'wire'? so i need a bit of clarification, am I going to only supply 12v to the relay socket or the compressor wire directly? No ground? Since you can flip a relay both ways that means i'd be able to use either socket that 87 can plug into, if going through the relay sockets.

Gonna get a read on how all the sockets are testing with the meter too.... brb

Ok updates: just checking the AC clutch relay sockets with the volt meter for the data incase anything looks sus:

Top left: Ground cont.
Bottom left: 12v / Ground cont.
Top right; Ground cont.
Bottom right: Ground cont.

I tried putting 12v in the pin 87 relay socket if that is what you meant, with the engine running, tried with ac off and on, did not hear anything start up or any sounds.

wire. My keyboard is strange and my eyes don't catch all of the errors. easiest to just jump pin 87 to voltage. While you are doing that check for voltage on pin 30 it should be hot always. If that does make the clutch engage the relay is bad. If it does not the check for continuity from 67 to the clutch, if that is good the clutch is bad. logic.
I don't remember if you checked the diode already

Time for a new compressor then. Watched a video of it being replaced, looks easier than what i swapped on the truck at least. https://a-premium.com/product/AC-Com...HHR-GzIQ09ol35
