Radio switches between Aux and radio:

Anyone else had this problem where you're listening to the radio and it goes silent. Display show Aux. input as if its trying to detect something thats plugged in...even though there isn't. It usually flips back and may do it several times or not at all for days. Anyone got any ideas?

Sounds like you have a bad head unit, not too much to do other than replace it. Unfortunately the costs of having someone poke through a "modern" radio and chase down something like a bad or cold solder joint, makes it more economical to just "bin it" and get another unit.

That being said, you do have the cost of the programming required to allow your HHR and the radio to communicate, something like $40-80 seems to be the going rate at the dealers.

the aux jack senses if something is plugged in and switches to that input. It could be as simple as something getting stuck in there. It could also be a bad jack or connection to it. Removing the faceplate and replacing the jack is often possible, although I havent tried it on these stereos.

My Malibu did this every time I unplugged my phone. I whacked the USB port with the palm of my hand and it quit. Never happen again.
