Question Rattle in the headliner...

Greetings,

Has anybody had the headliner down in their HHR? I have a rattle on the passenger side, near the contoured section over the seat belt mount.

It actually feels/sounds like the headliner (which is quite stiff with the backing) is actually not adhering to the roof panel, thus resulting in a slight rattle as the backing on the headliner bumps against the roof panel.

Having never had the entire headliner down, I am unsure how it is attached. I am hesitant to go much further and I REALLY don't want to take it to the local Chevy dealer body shop. (I've experienced their "work" before.)

If anybody has any thoughts, please let me know!

Thanks,
Kevin

Mine started to do it...It was driving me nuts...Took it to the dealer and they removed one of the peices of velcro. They said it was overkill from the factory...havnt picked the car up yet.

UPDATE: Headliner noise identified..

Just an update for any owners whose HHR may have come from a rental fleet (as mine did).

I took it to my local Chevrolet dealer today to have the rattling headliner fixed. They found the headliner had at some point been removed to add wiring for a satellite antenna (GPS), and subsequently was re-installed incorrectly. I hadn't given it any thought but many rentals do come with NeverLost or other GPS direction finding.

After getting my HHR home, I looked in the right rear tail light access and lo and behold, there were connectors of the sort used with remote GPS devices.

(So far, the rattling is gone. The headliner also seems much more solid. Fingers crossed!)
