One last thought......
Maybe the switch is not engaging or disengaging at the proper time......you know, like a short or worn contacts. With a little luck, it could be just the switch.

My 2009 does the same thing.Always has.I just keep turning it on and off a few times until it rests in the correct spot.I barely use the rear wiper anyway.
And by the way the wiper blade size for the rear is 11 inches(10.8 inches according to the owners manual).
Funny thing is the manual says the front wiper blade size is 19.7 inches but mine only measures 18 inches.That is what I replaed them with.
