The battery lobotomy, disconnect the negative cable only for a full 30 minutes. If you have done this , then you know that did not work.

A sucker for a good mystery, I was just re-reading this thread and caught the part about the power steering motor.

Can you elaborate on any power steering issues? A bad motor could cause crazy power draws and wreak havoc. If there’s any chance of a bad ps motor, it’s likey covered by either the recall or the extended warranty.

I haven't had any issues with the power steering except it was blowing fuses but once I replaced the burnt headlight connectors it quit blowing that fuse.

I did disconnect it once like that. Right now it is disconnected and has been for 2 days. Guess when I get alternator back on I will see for sure

So the alternator wasn’t working properly, because of the serpentine belt was worn out. Thanks for the update.
Enjoy the drive!

There is a recall covering the power steering. Headlight fuses have no connection to the PS.
Check for recalls & extended warranrees

Well that was short lived. Throwing same code and giving reduced engine power again.

The only code mentioned in this thread is P1682. You got distracted by the charging system, this code is ignition related.

Have the ignition related recalls been performed? https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/gm-r...-status-50716/
