Given I live in the snow, ice, and salt (plenty of salt) of lovely Ohio, I first painted the new lines and then sprayed them with undercoating hoping they will last longer than the originals. What I found interesting is that the brake lines running parallel with the fuel lines appear to be powder coated and had no rust at all. IMHO, it must have been a bean-counter decision not to treat the fuel lines as GM was in the process of going bankrupt...

Yes, people have been injured. Vehicles have started on fire while driving down the road. A local woman was injured trying to get her child out of the back seat. Fuel lines are not wear items.

Were They in an HHR?
Fuel lines, and brake lines and many metal parts rust .
A frame is not a wear part but my ‘78 Malibu rusted over the rear axle.

The fuel lines I replaced in my HHR were shot in the vicinity of the rear axle. It was the very first item on the list to get done; I was leaving little "rainbows" in the road.
While I do enjoy crispy chicken, I'm chicken about getting crispy in a car fire.
