Seizure=Totally Dead

Today I jumped in and turned the key and I thought that my car was having an electrical epileptic seizure! Lights flashing like crazy. Couple tries and all I got was a flashing engine and a flashing security, then nothing at all. Tried jumping it, got no response. GM roadside is coming in the morning to pick it up. Any thoughts? Car has 20K on it, was driven a few days ago to the dealer to get the leaky rim fixed. Maybe they put a Gremlin in?

The security system might have triggered on you, why, its hard to tell. You can give the following a try to reset the security system, if it works you're good, if not you already have a pickup scheduled. Good luck and keep us posted.

Step 1: Insert key and turn to on. (Not start) The security warning light will be on.
Leave in this condition for 10 min, or until light goes out.
Turn key off

Step 2: Turn to on (not start) the security warning light will be on.
Leave in this condition for 10 min or until light goes out.

Turn Key off

Step 3: Turn to on (not start) the security warning light will be on.
Leave in this condition for 10 min or until the light goes out.

Turn Key off

Step 4: Car will start

No guarantees this will work, but it was posted by a GM tech on the other HHR forum and folks reported that it got them up and running again.

Turns out the owner's manual for Jumping a car is pretty weak. I was following directions to the T but didn't get anything. The tow truck driver said I didn't get enough ground and was able to jump her no problem.
2x I've tried this and failed, can anyone clue me in as to a better ground for the negative terminal?

Jim

No one could explain the crazy flashing lights. Anyone experienced this?

Find something on the engine block for the ground. I've connected my charger using the block for ground instead of the strut with success, though I have not had to jump start it.

Wow, and I thought getting a 13hp generator in there was good...

could be something as simple as a loose battery cable.
