Mine was doing that. I took the top of the console off then sprayed the solenoid lever with WD40, that fixed it.

They don't sell the pieces, only the entire shifter assembly. If you still have 3/36000 use it. Dealer fix is going to be around $300-$400.

the boot shifter for the 2009 and up has a chrome button and they are out of stock and no more to be had for awhile from GM, you will have to go used

also if anyone is interested in this leather boot shifter..the partnumber for AUTO is 25995461. All other part numbers have either been replaced by this one or discontinued. So its the automatic transmission control complete assembly including leather boot (except leather shift knob)

so if anyone has the leather boot with leather knob would you be able to let us know the part number of that assembly or pm me your vin so i can shoot it over to GM and locate that exact assembly for purchase

2010 HHR 2.2 stuck in park too

I too have this problem this am .. I have yet to have all the other recalls done, hopefully this issue is covered by drive train warranty .. its 24 outside this am .. I'm assuming the cold has something to do with it .. just hear click click click .. sounds like a combo of the ignition clicking and the shifter.. and after reading several posts .. could be the brake pedal safety switch, or the shifter .. or possibly in the steering column.
Ive already had bearings replaced and the axle snapped under warranty .. now this .. .. hhr got to get rid of this POS car.. before something else falls off

Most likely the solenoid on the shifter. A shot of WD40 should do it. Not drive train, the dealer will try to sell you an entire new shifter assembly.

They probably will not be able to reproduce the problem.

GM part #25995461 has been superseded by # 20865028 about $84.00 at GMPartsGiant website $120.00 on other sites!

Hello dzmija I am new here and my 2010 is doing the same thing today I barely touched the brake until I heard the click and stopped pressing the pedal there lo and behold it shifted it came out of park fine its 20 here in ohio today I was wondering if you press the brake pedal to far would that bypass the brake switch and prevent it from coming out of park? I am not a mechanic and was wondering about this. Hope it keeps working.

Welcome to the site paul63.

"dzmija" hasn't been back to this site since 2013. I doubt you'll get a response from them.
