Well if you changed the battery out after the last CEL, the codes would have been cleared during the battery swap.
It gave your HHR a "lobotomy" of sorts, it's not the most precise method for correcting faults, but many an HHR has benefited from having the Negative battey cable unhooked for 5-30 minutes.
That clears out everything, and triggers the ECM's "Learn Down" mode, giving the vehicle a fresh start.
