Steering clunk fixed...new problem!!

Okay I had the steering clunk issue since I bought my HHR and finally took it in to the dealer. I told them that I've read about this problem and that replacing the column would solve it. They said they dont replace the column it just part of it and that that has not been an issue with the HHRs yet. So they looked at it and called to tell me they are going to replace the whole column (like I told them). I got the work done a day or two later and now my turn signals won't turn off by themselves.
The service guy at the dealer said they had ordered the column and the one that arrived was a new style that supercedes the standard columns that they used to use. So now they need to order the new turn signal mechanisms to match the new and improved (I guess) column. I believe the parts will be here on tues, or wed, but I may need to wait until next week to get the work done. I asked about a rental and they said they don't do those for this issue because it only takes a day to perform the work, whatever! I have other cars I can use.
Have any of you had this turn signal problem when you had your columns replaced. Did they mess up my car or do you think it's legite? I guess it doesn't really matter cause they are going to fix it but I just thought it was odd.

I think THEY screwed up and will not admit it. The tech probably broke something while doing the column install.

Why didn't they tell you the signals were not working properly when you picked it up?

Sounds sorta HOKIE, the column assy comes as one unit, just reconnect the wires, even a new model would`ve had the auto signal shut-off, that`s not new & improved.
It`s really amazing the stuff you hear about dealer/service issues on a forum.
I`m amazed there`s no outcry for oversight of service dept. in general.
