Still dinging

Have an 07 LS that dings like the key is left in . I just replaced the ignition switch no change . Only does it when drivers door is open. Recalls were done in 2014
I have sprayed lube in the key slot . My work schedule does not allow me to take the car to the dealership, might be able to call them but not sure if they will replace the lock cylinder again ? Anyone have ideas other than dealership? No codes either.

Maybe the stalk thinks that your headlights are not in the "auto" position.

I don't think a dealership would be any better than a good mechanic. Nobody at a dealership will remember what a HHR is, much less understan the electrical system. No, they don't have any special books (that they would bother to look at)..
As Rj said there are other things that trigger the chimes, like the door light switches, the liftgate, the hood ajar switch etc.

any gauges not functioning
door ajart (light switches)
headlamps on
key in ignition
has anybody EVER reset the oil monitor?
parking brake switch

If you don't know what something in that list means look in the Owner Manual (link in my sig), like how to reset the oil monitor.

My 2007 LS did this just prior to the OEM battery dying back in April 2011.
the computers weren’t getting enough voltage to think properly at 12.2 volts
perhaps in this case a battery lobotomy will reset the computers.
Disconnect the negative cable at the battery for 30 minutes. Then reconnect.
put a folded towel over the liftgate latch so when you close it, it won’t latch and lock you out.
You will close it from force of habit

Thanks oldblue , I had the battery disconnected for an hour or so when I replaced the ignition switch , it's been doing this for several years. The battery seems strong sits at 12.4 volts

Uh. 12.4 volts is low. Fully charged is 12.7-12.8. Maybe you should get your battery tested.

Is the security light on? Does it flash after you lock with the fob?
Do you use the parking brake?
Do all the thing that are supposed to happen when you put it into gear happen? (doors lock, DRL etc)
Has somebody fiddled with the hood ajar switch?
Any messages on the dashboard?

When did this behavior start? What happened just before? Any diddling with electrical circuits?

I am a bit confused; exactly what triggers the chimes? The key in should only be triggered by the driver door.

it's my gf's car , wondering where the security light would be.
the doors lock when put in gear.
it's been doing it since we got it 2-3years ago.
no dashboard messages
also I was wrong it only dings with the drivers door is open
don't think the hood switch has been messed with
