That's what I meant fully closed butterfly. If it is stuck a little open then you get a code for A/F since there is more air than the computer wants.

that makes sense. I don’t know if the bushings in the TB motor gradually wears out, but I feel like I have more improved responsiveness than I’ve ever had. I do know it was the OE part, because i saw the factory markings, so maybe that little motor in there slows down a little over time? Also, I’m sure that production technology must have improved over the last 10-11 years, so there’s that. Hmmm

- also, I had 1 sow and 4 piglets trying to feast on the turnips and sweet potatoes. I’ve got a police bullhorn and scared the bejesus outta them! Lol.. too bad I don’t eat pork, because that was several slabs of bacon running off there! Lol

I think it is more a function of the grease on nylon gears getting gummy and the gears wearing.

Planetrj - Good thread. I am curious, did you ever disassemble the old throttle body to try to determine what exactly failed inside?

I attempted, but I realized something after I broke the plastic. Apparently the ACDelco TB is made slightly differently inside than the earlier models. The resistor sensors inside of the unit’s TPS are weirdly sealed under of a solid single piece of plastic (same plastic as the exterior) with some sort of pre-sealed bolt attached to the gear “axle” bar not meant to remove, which is why the plastic broke, and doesn’t look like the one I saw on YouTube when I decided to dissect it to find anything.
So the mystery will remain. My guess is that it may have been close to throwing a code, and my cleaning it was enough to trigger it. I wish I had a better answer.
