Timing chain failure

In a word, yes. Is it a huge problem to lose sleep over, no.

The important thing is to keep your oil at the proper level, and to change it regularly. Low oil levels and/or hyper long change intervals seem to have the most bearing on the service life of the timing chain.

Theres been a few threads lately. Make sure that if you hear noise coming from the engine, check it out and fix it *before* the chain breaks. It may just be the tensioner, an easy fix. That part was revised around 2010, the new version is quite different.
However the chain guides are made of nylon, so they can be worn and need replacing too, at that point you may as well change the chain too. Hence they sell it all as a kit.
I just changed my tensioner, I could put up a howto if needed.
