Problems/Service/RepairsIf you have a problem with your HHR, want a tip on repairing or performing a particular service to you HHR here is the place to post!
Just ordered borescope should be here Sunday. I wish I could afford it but out my price range I found a Awsome deal from a local yard 2007 cobalt 2.2 25,000 original miles $1200 would be such a dream!!! Calling about a loan tomorrow lol
A lot. - just download them from the car without running the engine or turning it over to prevent further possible damage - posting possible codes here will do good at all. What are you gonna do if we post 20 or 30 codes? You going to spend hours researching what they mean?
Well by the codes they make some sense b2aa yea I had a evap leak fixed it.
the dreaded P0016 well we are pretty sure it jumped time. P0036 P0054 and p0141 are probably cause I have everything unplugged. I only threw a check engine light 1 time before all this and it was the evap stuff.
So to prepare fot the scope to get here what steps should I follow? I understand get everything out of the way to pull the bottom cover. Is there a how to on the site? I have watched the Cloyes video several times I am just looking for more detail on doing this engine in place.
Bottom cover? To check for piston/valve contact, you would pull the spark plugs, go in through there. Make sure the scope you order has a strong light. The one I got from harbor freight is nearly useless, the light is too weak .
Not TDC. You're not looking to see if the piston WILL hit the valves, you're looking to see if it DID.
For the best view ,have the piston down at the middle or bottom of the cylinder when looking with a scope. If you see contact marks on the piston top, then it bent that valve(s). Check all cylinders.
In the consideration the engine is shot I went to a local u pull it place. I will brake the cars up into a couple posts. They all started and ran at the insurance companies.
The silver one has maintenance sticker under the hood which is a good sign. But higher miles
any opinions would be great.
