Thanks for the pictures.

I'll replace the tensioner as soon as I get it from Rock Auto.

There are no codes being set, just chain noise.

I was quoted 1300. That was just the chain and guides kit.
Thats insane. That means they are charging like $1100+ for labor?

Thats like $350+ an hour.
A full timing kit including all guides and sprokets along with full balance shaft set is only $194.58 plus shipping.
I'm in the wrong business.

6 hrs labor I think, it included the chain for the water pump.

The job is NO fun for the hobbyist! I halted my head gasket job after I realized how much work was involved.

Some insist on the "genuine" label, that adds $ x3 to the parts price.

I hope you are not driving it if the chain is making noise - could get VERY expensive.
