I don’t know how you can get the timing chain over or around the intake cam sprocket.

Just saying, and I’ve changed a lot of Ecotec timing chain sets.

Yes, and they all use the same timing chain , just different kits.

Can confirm, at least on my SS, both sprocket/actuators had to come off. Maybe just the exhaust on a pre-2009 2.2L, which just had simple sprockets? This has been discussed before.

Also previously discussed, Donbrew pointed out that the cam bolts are NOT “torque-to-yield” and can be reused. I bought new ones because I didn’t know and they were cheap and available. But I would have been comfortable reusing them because they strike me as pretty beefy for the job.

In my 2007 LS 2.2 both sprockets needed to be removed to allow room to get the timing chain out, and the new one in.

Thanks all, I got everything ordered I need I believe. Did grab two new cam bolts too. Figured might as well, what is $6 when you are spending $350.

Good point! I’ve never broken one of those cam bolts , but why risk it! It’ll ruin your day!
