It's possible that a previous owner changed the timing set, but not the balance shaft chain set.
No it was a one owner car, an old man and had very low mileage when I bought it so i’m sure it was the original chains. The balance chain had a little slack after sitting torn down for two days but no so much that the tensioner couldn’t take up the slack. I am glad it is done now and it wasn’t all that hard of a job. With my cancer and my age every job is a chore though. I just hope it runs another 100,000 miles now.
