Took it in for a few warranty things.....
And i took it in on july 9th... got a call that same day at 4 pm....telling me that everything was finished, except for one thing. they replaced the rear chevy emblem, water damaged, replaced my shifter, bc the ball on top had become very loose, and reattached the seat backing on the pass. seat.
Then he told me the trans problem that i was having (grinding shifting from 3-4th) was a "commom problem" and that another car was having the same problem, and it had been in the shop for 2 weeks with no sign of parts. But he was sure that bc of the other car needing the parts that they would be there sooner for my car...
Well. I called a week later to get an update, and he told me the part wouldnt be there till the 3rd, and would give me a call if ANYTHING at all changed...
Its the 5th of august....still no car..still no call...im a little less than pleased.

I remember in the '70s and '80s when I owned vehicles such as BMW (2002tii) and VW (Scirocco) my friends were telling me that I was crazy because "foreign car parts" would be difficult if not impossible to find.
Isn't it interesting how things turn around?

I'd start calling other Chevy dealers in the area to see if they have the parts for the problem. I had to do that for the headliner padding recall because the closest dealer kept "running out of parts" just as I brought the car in for the appointment. I found two dealers within 12 miles that had the parts and could take care of it that day. You're not stuck with the dealer you bought the car from for warranty work, any Chevy dealer can do it.
Your dealer could call the other dealers to see if their stock is available for sale or if it came in for a job in their shop. Here's a word of advice about the locator system(s).If the dealer only checks the Reynolds & Reynolds locator, all that does is indicate if the inquired number is in the dealer's system. It DOESN'T mean for sure that they have the part on hand. It's better to use the locator in GM Global Connect. That's a much better indicator of the possibility of actual stock at a dealer.
I called the dealer this morning, early, around 9 to see if he had any news on my car.
He didnt answer. So i drove down to the dealer so he'd have to talk to me (ive called 3 different times, weeks apart and left msgs and never receved a call back) I get to his station, and ... of course..."OH I WAS JUST ABOUT TO CALL YOU!!....We havent receved the final part yet so we cant finish it, but let me check my email and get the tracking number for it." he checks his email and it says the it will be at the dealer later that day. so he calls his tranny tech to see if he can get him to get started on it. and what do you know...the tech called in sick today.
So he tells me that the tech will get in on monday and he'll jump right on it, and he'll give me a call when its finished and ready to be picked up.

Well i got to pick the car up today. took a month and 3 days, but i got it. everything seems to be working correctly, no grinding and everything else mentioned is fixed. i dont think i will be going back to that dealer anytime soon.
