Traction control and fog light buttons get hot
Your buttons are not gettin hot from the heater.
The buttons get hot because they are lighted. The bulb puts off enough heat to make them warm to the touch. THis is common in most GM cars.
All my GM cars that have lighted buttons on the radio and some on the dash have gotten warm for years. even the radio in my Fiero has warm lighted buttons.
You only notice them in the winter win the air is so much colder they stand out.

As one guy pointed out it is because of the the back lights. Those specific buttons are hotter than the others because the lights are closer to the back of the button than the other buttons. You'd think they would use LED lights now a days, they don't get nearly as hot but oh well the gasoline engine isnt known for its efficiency so why even bother using efficient lights.
On low to medium priced cars they want keep the price down on the bulbs are reliable ,cheap and easy to repair and have been much cheaper. LED is just now coming down in price to where we will see greater use of it.
The heat hurts nothing and only makes people ask questions if they even notice it.
It was not all that long that controls on the dash as no lights or if you were lucky it has a dash bulb that was dim and hardly lite the control.
