Where can I buy this hose or clip?
First - please be gentle, up until a year ago I'd never changed a tire I recently bought a 2006 Chevrolet HHR and after being quoted small fortunes to do some work - I becamse somewhat of a youtube mechanic. I don't know the parts - I don't even always know the why, so the lingo I may not use is correct. I have a P0171 code and most of my research points to a vacuum leak - sometimes inside of the vapor canister purge valve. I was looking around for a leak and while I'm not positive this is where it's coming from - I did notice the hose connected wasn't securely on and then subsequently realized it had no clip to hold it on. Can anyone suggest where I can find this hose to order and/or just the clip. Is there anything alternative? Can I just get some hose to connect this directly? (I don't quite understand what the green twisty is on the back of it). Anyhow - see picture. thanks!

Yes MAF is plugged in (and recently pulled/cleaned, haven't replaced it though). I feel like MAF #'s are good on a live monitor but I don't really know - can't find specific HHR #'s I should be looking for. I get between 2.7->5ish g/s.
I do see those cracks/scars in the picture clearer than in person - I don't think they're all the way through - mostly dirt - but I'll check in the morning. Relative moot point if I have to replace to get that damn clip anyway

I have never seen an EVAP purge valve with that sort of tubing. I have no clue what the green thingie is for.
Stock HHRs have the tube going directly from the firewall to the valve. Everything from that brass fitting top the valve is non-standard. I'm not sure about the valve itself, but the tube does not attach with a clip.
This is what the connector is supposed to look like. This is disconnected. The white clip in the connector is part of the connector, you might try a GM parts department. My guess is somebody tried to do a Frankenstein to fix a broken connection. Maybe go top a junkyard and cut a section of the tube off and figure a way to splice it in, there are tube splicing parts available.

Thanks - well that's an interesting scenario. I guess that means that brass piece in my original post is a tube splice like you had noted. So to clarify as long as I can get something that seals between that brass fitting and the evap canister i should be good to go?

I see the brass splice connection, so best bet is to go to a parts yard and cut the hose you need from a Cobalt, HHR , Saturn, Pontiac GM variant. There should be a few to choose from At the yard cut with a pair of side cutters, then clean up the cut with a sharp razor knife.

I used this type connector for my vapour line
Thi was to far to the solenoid, but you can see the white retainer clip
This piece I cut from a Cobalt at a parts yard, longer to move that connector back by the fire wall
