Won't start
Its cold here today, less than 20 degrees. When I try to start the car everything flickers, gauges vibrate, no crank. I'm not car savvy enough to know the problem. Do I need anew battery?

You may need a battery but first you need to get it started. I would try to jump start it. When you have it running stop by your local parts store and have the battery and charging system checked.
Use the jump starting method in your owners manual.

Hi roofer1976, this is not especially a specific hhr ss issue but a general problem.
If it is colder then all batteries are weaker.
in warmer weather, your battery may still work but
if the weather holds on in NJ under 20 degrees, then you need a new one.
But still check if the alternator is enough loading your battery.
Yur can do it yourself with a voltmeter or your dealer can do it for you.
