2001 Camaro Z-28 kill

Let me start by saying this was in the middle of nowhere, with no cars around. looked to be a 2001 white z-28 pulls up next to me at a red light, we exchange glances, He and his wife are 50-60 ish . On dry roads i always drive in competition mode. so i'm way ready. He revs his car a couple of times and it sounds good, and i'm thinking this is going to be embaressing, he's going to kill me.
The light turns green and we both lauch, I instantly get a 1/4 lenth on him and with 2 perfect no lift shifts, hold a 1/4 on him to 80 then he shuts down.
I'm shaken with adrenaline, we pull up to the next light, and he dosn't look over . he nails it when the light changes, but theres traffic ahead now , so i'm done.
2 light later he's turning left , As i drove buy i gave his wife a thumbs up.
It sure felt great holdin in front of a v-8, and i know he was thinkin , wtf !

Not doubting you but how do you know it was a 2001? 1998-2002 look pretty much identical. LS1 camaro's run on average mid to low 13's with a few of them dipping into the 12's stock. Trap is 104-108 stock. Also I have never seen a stock LS1 camaro. Most have at least bolt ons which increases their trap 5-8 mph. I own a 1998 Formula LS1 and when it was stock, which was many years ago, I can't see an HHR SS even coming close unless there is driver error. Good driving!!!!!

I would know. I ran 13.2's @ 107 mph stock and I was auto. I think it was the driver but no way in hell would my HHR even come close to my Z28.
But Driver error was possible but even then.

The HHR does impress me with it's 99 mph trap in stock form. Tuned they seem to run around 102 through the traps. I seen them up around 105 trap speed tuned which actually is close to a stock LS1 times but you have to be driving your but off to get those times. FWD is what kills the HHR SS. They look to be very hard to launch at the track unless you are running drag tires. They stand a much better chance racing from a roll against their competion. I would like to see a HHR SS go up against a LT1 Camaro or Firebird, that should be a great race. Both trap around 98-99 stock (in most cases) if your driving them to their max but if the HHR is tuned it is probably going to walk away from the stock LT1..especially from a roll. You gotta love the HHR SS, it could be one of the best sleepers out their.

107 is a great trap for an auto LS1!!! Yeah, LS1's are beasts plain and simple. Right know the cam only record is 10.2 in the 1/4. You can find it over on the LS1tech.com forum. Did you sell yours? What were your mods and what kinds of times were you running?

I sold mine to my buddy kris. i'm also on LS1tech. I have piles and piles of track slips. I'll scan in my stock times from back in 1999. I never got to run the 300 Shot wit hthe new motor and stall. My fastest time was a 11.5 @ 123 MPH with a TR220 Cam, Pacesetter headers with true duals, 3.73's and a 100 shot with a slipping tranny ugh. My tranny kept breaking and I should have gone with a TH400.. I'm also camaro98z28 over on that site.

I know an HHR SS would beat an LT1 Camaro and pull away but our biggest problem are the launches and 60 ft times. My 99mph would be a low 14 second ET if I had better 60 ft times. My buddy had a 95 LT1 with exhaust and intake and could only manage a 14.0 @ 99 mph. He was auto btw
