Modesto to San Simeon is about 4 hours. You'd want to come down the 5 and hit Hwy 41 just south of Avenal (Exit 309). That would bring you over to Hwy 46 for our meet at the James Dean Memorial. We'll be leaving Bakersfield around 4PM so we would be at James Dean about 5:20. It would take you a bit over 3 hours to get to James Dean from Modesto. There are possibly some others from around Fresno who might be coming who would want to meet you along the way.

We leave the hotel around 8AM to head north up the coast for Monterey. That gives us plenty of time to stop and enjoy the scenery and take pictures. It also allows for motor homes and other things that slow you down along the way. That puts us into Monterey just in time for lunch.

Lee, there is San Simeon State Park just a few miles down the road if you wanted to camp. I don't know if you have the HHR ready to be towed or not. The state park is nice and they do have campsites but by the time you pay your site fee and hookup fees you are already at the good room rate that we have at the hotel.

As I mentioned earlier, lunch for a group at Gump's is often a hassle. Depending on how many people attend, we may have to get several tables instead of just one big one. We'll probably have a bit of a wait at lunch but there are lots of shops around to keep everyone busy.

I just hung up the phone from Manesh a little bit ago and he says that so far he has one other reservation besides mine listed in the HHR party. We have 10 rooms blocked but he has a bus coming in that night that has 50 rooms blocked. He has 61 rooms. If you are planning on coming to this event, please call and make your reservations. I don't want anyone getting left out.

I'm ready to do this thing! It has been 106+ every day for two weeks here and we're leaving for Vegas for a week on Sunday and I know it will be even hotter there! I'm ready to hit the coast and the cool weather!

Well Song; You could always be me.. I am going to Washington this Saturday for 2 weeks (it was 113 here today) so I am going to have to suffer in the cool and possibly wet weather... Hee hee hee..

Our HRR is going to be at the dealership for the 2 weeks we are gone... Getting the Prestige package done (Super Detail in and out) plus anything else I can think of to have them do... We only have 800 miles on her and she is not ready to tow behind the Motor Home YET....

No I didn't pay extra for the detail package they threw it in on the deal free (YEH RIGHT) lol.... Oh well at least in my mind she will be super clean...

I've got to go to Washington on Aug 9, three days after we get back from Vegas. Mine is just a there and back trip though to pick up my Ferrari kit car that is having work done on it. I won't be taking the HHR either since I doubt that it is rated to pull that much weight. I only have to go to Vancouver, just across the border from Portland, OR, but I hope it is not raining up there then. As much as I love rai, I don't want to be hauling my car in bad weather.

You made me think of something.. I am supposed to be getting some sort of detail package in the mail because of the extra warranty I bought. I need to call the dealership tomorrow and follow up on that.
