The silver lining in all of this was the convoy to the other restaurant.

This was our first meet, with my wife and nephew along. We were near the back of the pack, and the stares and double-takes from the other drivers and folks on the street made the Sonic adventure well worth it. IMO

What a cool sight, watching a parade of HHR's winding their way through town.

Hard to imagine if there were 40 - 50 of us....

Watching Tim and Elle tear apart a rear hatch interior was a riot....looked like a wrecking yard crew at work......LOL

I used to live in that area a couple of years back, and a local VW club used to meet there. A lot of other clubs used to meet there as well. There was always someone hotshot cruising the parking lot, chirping their tires and being stupid. This always brought the police down on the area, and the eyes in the sky was orbiting as well. Maybe this sonic got tired of it?

Now, as for their service, that is something this location has Never Excelled At. You got to sonic to Wait, not be waited upon. I only went there when the club met. And the club moved back to Nicks.

We were rebels for sure. Going to a public "restuarant" (and I use that term loosley) during normal business hours and expecting to be served items from their menu. Oh the humanity!

Sure sounded like one too! LOL

I even asked if we waited our turn, and each of us take a stall. She STILL refused to serve us.

Needless to say, my family and I will not be going to Sonic again...

I wasn't there that day but I have hosted enough car gatherings at local Sonics and been to enough cruise nights that I felt qualified to post. I don't know how many people consult the Google reviews as linked earlier, but they'll get my opinion of the matter if they do.

Elle', what was it exactly that you asked the manager? She asked a very clear question about whether they would serve car club members, I believe. I dunno, but it was very chilling to hear the answer. Elle' - take it!

< and vandalism, >
Good thing that they didn't catch us at A&J's taking off yet another rear wiper Yep we are a bunch of vandals alright
I asked the lady manager point blank: if we leave and came back one car at a time and took a spot in line would we be served, Her reply was NO. At that I took my money elsewhere.
Not only were they nice at A&Js she didnt blink twice and handled the 'crunch' with grace and fast service all the while training a new employee. I know it's a small hole in the wall but they were good !
Sonic: fagetaboutem!!

How about our daughter Becca hanging out SITTING UP !! She is sore today and resting but she had a lot of fun and can't wait to get back to work so she can buy her new AA5 She said Hi everyone and see you soon.

Welcome to Ed, Neil, Leon and Sharon, and sorry for any names I didn't mention. Great meeting/seeing everyone and look foward to more !!

curtsy
Elle'

Sorry to hear that Sonic treated you that way. The Sonic's around this area (Middle Tennessee) are frequently used as sites for car clubs, classic car meets and just general 50's and 60's style congregating with cars. In fact, there are several that have regular meets scheduled at their restaurants. Once the weather turns nice in May and June, it's the norm to see car clubs in Sonic parking lots on virtually every Friday and Saturday night.

I guess that franchise out there just has a different attitude about it. Too bad. I guess their business is good enough in this down market that they can afford to turn business away. Good for them, if that's truly the case.

I came out here from TN about 6 years ago. In most cases, the Sonic is no different than back there. This particular one just seems to be managed by a jack@$$. You can find 50-75 hot rods at one of the Sonics here in town every Friday night. I hope this manager ends up getting what for from corporate.
