Service deparments in Omaha are pretty good. I have always had good luck at two dealers here. Gregg Young and Huber. Huber chatted with me for awhile about the tranny and what needs to be done. I said keep it as long as you need just do it right. They offered a rental, but I told them not to worry, I would just drive my Jeep.

They called back an hour later... said since I am being cool about it all, they spoke to a Customer service rep about it all. He will have a new Tranny here Friday, and will try to finish the install by Monday. I might buy those guys some pizza!

I wouldn't worry too much untill you start seeing repeat failures from other owners...I had a professionally built 700r4 crap on me also because of a spring clip ,basically a one off failure as there are countless others out there with no problems.

I wouldn't worry about it. I had a $50,000 Audi A-6 that drop a transmission with total failure, so for a car at less than half the price, I think it does well.

Also three days into my evo 3rd gear went out and it was in the dealership for two weeks until they flew someone in from Japan to fix it.

As frustrating as the chevy dealers can be, they made this "one" mitsu dealer look great. In fact the first two days of the evo in the shop was the dealer trying to prove I revved it and dropped the clutch after inspecting to see if I added any aftermarket mods. (They found nothing because I had done nothing), still that was the process. Actually I only get a resolve by calling mitsu U.S.headquarters.

But as most of the tuners on this forum will tell you, it's not spinning the tires that abuses the transmission, it's with traction control when the transmission gets sudden jolts and stutters. It's the shock, not the power.

These cars are after all souped up economy cars. We may love them, I actually find the SS quite special, but so far in my view the're just as good if not better than cars costing a lot more.

Funny you mentioned the Traction control and ESC because that is when it happened. Car was slippin around an easy bend TC and ESC went nuts, gas was down half-3/4. Then massive grab, and a *wack* sound from engine bay. I wouldn't have guessed the TC and ESC could cause and issue. I usually turn them off, but it was wet out in spots.

As far as dealers go, the two I mentioned above are always pleasant to deal with. I even explained to them ahead of time that I am one of those anxious car owners who likes to be kept in the loop from day to day :) Well all, thanks for cooling my jets, cause I really love this car and would miss the fun if i got rid of it this soon :)

Go somewhere else. It is worth it to get the kit.
