Coolant leak though charge pipe connections
Coolant leak though charge pipe connections
Alright so I think I found the coolant leak areas.
First is on the charge pipe coming off the throttle body going down, second is from the passenger side intercooler charge pipe just above the "frame"
I also notice a lot of grease buildup on the driver side all the way at the bottom looking down from the hood (there's a few pipes there)
Does this sound like the intercooler is leaking? Is it a second radiator or more like a CPU cooler (air on fins) ??
I want to just get the whole kit and start over but I don't know if I need to. If coolant can escape these seals then I assume air can too, which is bad.
But I'm mostly curious about how coolant gets in an "air" pipe?

I don't remember. The turbo is new so that sucks. It always had the coolant leak though. Any other parts besides the turbo itself I should look at? Banjo bolts? Return lines? etc
The "2" charge pipes you're referring to are actually the same charge pipe. It connects the cold (passenger) side (outlet) of the Intercooler to the throttle body.
You could fairly easily remove the charge pipe from the turbocharger to see if there is coolant residue there. This is to check if the coolant is leaking from the turbocharger. Clean it up, check again in 50 miles. More likely coolant is leaking from the upper radiator hose or the radiator itself and dripping on the charge pipe below.
The charge piping, between the turbocharger and the throttle body, the only thing connected to it is the MAP sensor, and the vacuum line connected to the bypass solenoid. So there's no coolant there.
