It still has the pin in because the tension guide isn’t installed yet in that photo.

The Mellings kit that came with the VVT sensors included a 10 mm bolt instead of the original 8 mm. I use the originals torque to 89 inch pounds. Hopefully nothing sneaky about this.

I noticed with the new gasket the valve cover, sits pretty high off of the meeting surface. I also noticed with the kit that I got from mailing the VVT sensors had a 10 mm bolt in them.

I wanted to go ahead and post a picture of this line that broke while we were taking the valve cover off. Haven’t looked into where it went. Didn’t know if it’s something common to break.
thanks for the support fellas.

Why care about the wrench size of a bolt? It is the threads that count.

The VVT solenoids should have been a 10mm head, but Donbrew has a point, the threads are the important thing.
the valve cover gasket will compress, 89 inch pounds.
the broken part appears to be the pcv valve

Perhaps RJ can confirm

Yes, it is a check valve for the fresh air inlet of the PCV system. Here's what I did when mine broke.

The actual PCV valve that Oldblue has shown from RockAuto is not the part in question. That is buried inside the intake manifold.
