A little late on my response but,........... is this an opinion or can you provide facts to support your assertion?

About 4 years ago, I worked as a contract manager with a fleet of 28 vehicles for a major vehicle manufacturer. Each of the vehicles was driven on a predetermined test course for a minimum of 100,000 miles. The objective of the program was to determine the value of specific type lubricants and the viability of fuel additives.

I can tell you with all certainty that comparing and analyzing the involved products produced results that determine selected additives in the fuel products had much better responses and results than vehicles that contained non or lesser known additives. The value of the program supported the idea and conclusion that specifically identified additives to the lubricant products provided additional longevity to rotational parts as far as wear and and ultimately undesired premature destruction.

Manufacturers name and identifying specifics I cannot provide due to confidentiality agreements. I provided essentially the same information the manufacturer released, although condensed. So, use MY response any way you wish.

This debate is kind of foolish anyway. Probably 90 % of the fuels sold are Top Tier anyway.

I did read everything I could find. I found nothing to support your OPINION that it is a scam. How would the supporter of a product/process provide something that says it's a scam. Care to explain? Why would the vast majority of fuel providers support and endorse the product.

Oh and I forgot to say....My OPINION is based on engineering and chemical results. What is yours based on. You provided nothing.

 

Perhaps scam is not the right word. It's a marketing tool. Your fuel qualifies, but if you want to market the "Top Tier " label, you pay a fee.

But the consumer doesn't know that your fuel is no better than the small station next door, that chose to not pay the fee.

Hard to believe I'm more cynical than you. If you have to pay someone to use a label that is a scam, in my mind. Especially, a label that claims "TOP TIER" with no definition of the tiers below it.

 

That's what I thought. Just YOUR skeptical OPINION. No facts to back it up. But you should at least man-up when you make that pronunciation and admit it is an opinion.
Frankly, I'm a little disappointed. As much as you read and study service manuals and diagrams, I thought you would come up with a better explanation.
I suppose you have the same opinion about Dexos 1 & 2. Since no formula is provided to the laymen for review.

Not really. When misleading information is provided a challenge should be made to correct it. I did that.....and I'm done.

 

I just go by what they say about themselves.

The Dexos "formula" is published. It consists of a list of ingredients that are available from a few selected sources. You can use the name, if you buy the ingredients. Maybe they really are better than the next guys, maybe they just pay for the privilege.
