When the wife’s dad was still alive he could go to a car lot with 1000 new and used cars on it to choose from. He would invariably go straight to the only lemon on the lot, swear it was the best one there, buy it and even sometimes pay extra to have it delivered ‘today’, and drive off with it only to have one thing after another go wrong with it.

When he bought his new at the time ‘74 impala he didn’t even get home before it overheated. Whoever did the prep had not topped off all the fluids.

The second to last vehicle he bought was a ‘96 LHS, my wife inherited that car and I have been dealing with its problems since he died. The last vehicle he bought was a 2002 Dodge van. My wife’s older sister got that one. They have had to replace the transmission twice and the engine once. I’m not real sure how many alternators and starters they have put on it.

The main onboard computer has failed at least three times once while granpa was still alive.

Also Jess, I would read through this.. He'd had many similar issues.. so this is what you may well be up against.

I have corresponded with her on email. Gave her more insight on my case.

It is ruff, and honestly I'm surprised GM doesn't do more to AVOID these cases. But they don't... sucks.

I wish her all the luck in the world...
